Community Involvement
Lisa and the KidSwim staff understand the importance of healthy children and the confidence that all children gain through participating in sports. We also believe that community service is a necessary component of running a responsible company. This year, KidSwim has proudly become a sponsor for the Hillsides Home for Children in Pasadena, CA. We have set up a scholarship fund which will allow the children at Hillsides to continue participating in their sports activities throughout the year. We will also work with the staff at Hillsides to arrange swim clinics for the children which will be given by volunteers on an intermittent basis throughout the summer. It is simply a fact that children who participate in sports perform better in school, have greater levels of self confidence and are more likely to stay out of trouble and move on to higher education. We at KidSwim are proud to invest in the lives of children who may have otherwise not had these opportunities.
About Hillsides
As a Pasadena charity founded in 1913, Hillsides creates safe places for children in foster care living in its residential treatment center and is a community treatment center preventing the cycle of abuse for children at risk and their families. Six programs are at the core of Hillsides' mission: Residential Treatment, Family Center, Education Center, Wraparound, Youth Moving On, and Advocacy. Through intensive and personalized therapeutic care children begin to heal from their traumatic childhood experiences. Families begin to recover together through counseling and support groups. Special education students achieve academic successes throughindividualized education plans designed to meet their academic and behavioral goals. Former foster youth, who leave foster care upon turning 18, have a safe, affordable place they can transition to while receiving mentoring, mental health, and other support services.
